Genesis 1-11 Bible Study Delayed
I was going to start my blogs covering the Cover to Cover Bible Study 'Genesis 1 - 11' by Jeremy. No one has emailed me to say they are interesting in joining me for the journey. That's OK ... It just means I have to motivate myself to study it alone =) So I will get to and have something up concerning the content next Thirsty Thirstday.
Blessings

Somethin' Saturday 3 - New Testament Books.
Please note the odd reference to Viole is a little activity I had going in my last You Tube Channel, (before God challenged me to let it go, and do something that actually glorifies Him, not me) where I would hide the toy somewhere in my videos, and people could if they wanted too, try and find him.

Not Quite Dead. Quite Dead.
Greetings. Muddy Monday's here, and I've got a ripper!
I was challenged by a brother in Christ in whom I respect greatly regarding my blog statement (now removed - it is at the bottom of the post so you know what it said), and what I said in my introduction video.
I am only publishing the word from my brother, because what I said on another forum, I have said here on this blog.
I tell you honestly, my heart yearns to expound what is true and accurate. I do not want to present another gospel. God forbid that I do! - to think I have misinterpreted the word, and what is more - presented that error here to my fellow brothers and sisters, truly brings terror into my heart.
My brother's issue was that he cannot agree that we kill, or render inoperative our sin nature by our efforts. These scripture he then brought to my attention.
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH?
6:11 LIKEWISE RECKON YE ALSO YOURSELVES TO BE DEAD INDEED UNTO SIN, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Gal 2:20 I AM CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Col 2:20 Wherefore IF YE BE DEAD WITH Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 2:21 Touch not; taste not; handle not; 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
It shocks me to consider that I have given the impression that we can, by our own effort put death to sin.
I confess then, that my brother's need to bring forth these scriptures unto me, sends a strong warning that I am not being clear in what I am saying. For this I am truly sorry and humbled.
If anyone would like to read the discussion you may follow the thread here entitled Are You Quite Dead? I'm Not.
For some home housekeeping closer to home. For this vlog/blog If anyone sees something that they don't think is right according to the scripture, you MUST tell me, and then present scripture that supports your concern. I will not bow down to a man or women's opinion alone, I will however bow to God through scripture. Scripture in context. I am not interested in scripture used out of context. Indeed If you find that I'M using scripture out of context. I need to know that too. =)
A caution - if you feel the need to pull me up on something. I will listen, but if you present your concern in a way that brings life to Law, then I will not have it! So that is to say - in harsh judgement and condemnation. I want to promote 'truth in love' here on the vlog/blog. I will not be pummeled.
Thank you for your attention.
Blessings to you all.
PS: From tomorrow forward I will not rush to try and have something to post everyday. In my haste I may not adequately and thoroughly research content I present. This is too dangerous.
This was my blog statement...
ISSAC LAY OBEDIENTLY ON THE ALTER HIS FATHER ABRAHAM HAD SET UP FOR HIS sacrifice. I'm on the alter too, but I can't stay still! I strain my neck hoping to find a ram stuck in the brambles behind me. When I don't see one I climb off the alter and walk away, but I don't get far. I start walking back.
I'm not quite dead, but I want to be, so that Christ can be alive in me and at full capacity.
Boy o boy this has been a rather exhausting day, spiritually. I hope I haven't overloaded you guys. But like I say in the my blog description on the Faithful Bloggers list I want this to be an honest blog/vlog.

1. I'm a three year old. When Jesus asks me to, "Come here.", I ask Him, "Why?"
2. I'm now five. When Jesus asks me to "Come Here". I shout "No!"
3. I'm eight. When Jesus says, "Come here." I run into His arms.
4. I'm a more of a teen at the moment. When Jesus asks me to, "Come here." I say, "I'm goin' out."
5. I'm often called "Babe." Does that mean I get a free pass into the Kingdom of God? I just have to flaunt it a little, right?

Bible Repackaging
Don't feel like reading? Listen to the audio below. Running Time 3:40.
Today is 'Somethin' Saturday' and this IS somethin'!
I want to look at "The Illuminated Bible: The Book"
I'll try and explore why I not enamored with 'the Illuminated Bible' designed to look like a magazine.
Firstly the nick name for the bible is the 'Good Book'. This repackaging has dropped the word 'Good'. Not drastic, but interesting I thought.
My issue is not that It uses the Good News Translation. I think over all it is a helpful translation - it is being called a paraphrase now, it is an easy read, it was my favorite bible as a kid (Annie Vallotton's illustrations rock!). Particularly helpful to me is the translation's rendering on Romans 7:15-25. So why should I bag a bible version that 'illuminates' a passage I was struggling to understand in the New King James Bible!? Well I don't. The only real niggle I have with the GNT is the word they replace 'blessed' with - I don't like the word 'happy'. The word itself is not horrible, indeed I like being 'happy', but in the context of scripture 'happy' loses something of the divine about the word 'blessed'.
But I'm going off on a tangent. I'll bring it back.
So apart from that, I'm not bothered with The Book's choice of translation. It makes sense in fact. As I said it's an easy read. Excellent for a format like a magazine.
What I found myself thinking about regarding this repacked New Testament - is how sternly should we take the verse '...do not conform to the ways of the world...'? Is taking the bible and glossing it up like a mag conforming to the world? Or do we need to keep bibles up with the times? Georgia Knightly an advocate of another repackaged bible the 'Green Bible' ( printed on recycled paper with soy ink and a sustainable linen cover ) is quoted as saying "Anything that gets people to read the Bible is a good thing." Sounds perfectly acceptable. But then, what I would say is that no matter how you fancy up a bible's outward appearance, and the message inside has not been tampered with, then a person bent on living their own life will not be changed by explosive graphics and shiny pages.
It is naive to think that making the bible classy, will change the heart of a man or woman, only Holy Spirit opening the eyes of an unbeliever can do that, only agreeing in faith that Christ died for our sins, so that we can be made righteous before God can do that. So why do we insist then, on helping God, by making Godly things more world-like?

All A-Slaver
I am a fan of the allegory 'Pilgrim's Progress'. You can buy it here.
In the year of 2000 I embarked on Master's Commission - this is a course that seeks to find people prepared to take a year out of general life and dedicate ones self solely to God. It was a tough year, but one that will stay in my memory for as long as I live. One of the things we had to do was keep a journal. We had to write in it 3 days a week. It is from my first journal that the following extracts are taken - written in the form of an allegory. The allegory starts with me beginning a journey into the dark recesses of Mylife Jungle, my mission to seek the sin in my life and expel it.
As for my confession today? It will become apparent through the tale.
You are welcome just to read it on your own or press play and follow the words below as I give the tale my voice.

Deceived Woman in Surburbia
(Photoree is currently updating. Will put up an image later)
Somethin' (a bit serious) Saturday.
Catholic Church tells Medium Moreen Hancock that talking to the dead is a gift of the Holy Spirit!?
There is plenty of scripture that would defuse this idea.
In 2 Chronicles 33:6 consulting mediums and spiritists provoke the Lord and is evil in His sight. Consulting one of these people is evil in God's sight let alone being one!
Matthew 6:23 says
But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness—how deep is that darkness!
Even Simon the Magician in Acts 8 never claimed that his sorcery was a gift of the Holy Spirit. He knew the two were not the same - indeed he tried to pay for the power of Holy Spirit.
Moreen Hancock has her own show now 'Psychic in Suburbia'.
Thoughts, questions?

God's Insect World.
![]() |
Thumbs up for ladybugs! |
Coming home from the park today, I had unwittingly carried with me a passenger. A red ladybug.
I rescued it from my shoulder and took it outside.
I found a plant to offload it onto and stopped. I just stood there and watched this little creature on my hand. It had started cleaning itself. I have seen flies clean themselves - an oxymoron if ever I've heard one - but I have never witnessed a little ladybug clean it's tiny-teeny fore-legs. I found myself marveling at this creation (not specimen of evolution). A lovingly fashioned member of God's insect world.

What's the urinal for? It will come apparent. |
One of the first blogs I checked out through Faithful Bloggers was one named the Surrendered Scribe. The authoress has a feature called 'Character Confessions'. The article I read was titled Mean Girls. Julie relates a time when she was mean - not outwardly, but on her mind. The article got me to thinking about bullying.
The vlog below relates stories in my life when I was on the receiving end. And how I responded.
This is the first video I filmed for Not Quite Dead.
